The goal is not to turn every diner into an app user. A browser-first QR experience should leave the human service flow in place and remove avoidable confusion.
Think about the shift, not just the QR code.
A table-service restaurant that reconfigures its floor for parties faces a different problem from a grab-and-go counter: the person who scans may not be the person who pays, and a table number may outlive its physical position.
Map the dining room first, including movable tables and waiter zones. A guest request needs to carry stable visit context, not merely a device identifier. Make sure a trained owner can edit one menu item, and confirm that the change appears on both the public menu and staff screens.
Design around changing table occupancy
A restaurant with flexible seating must handle table changes without inventing a new guest identity for every seat. A good rollout starts with a physical table map and clear close-visit rules.
Only one final bill or statement should be prepared when a visit ends. Test reopened orders and late requests without generating duplicate final bills.
- ✳Label movable and permanent tables consistently.
- ✳Decide which role can close a visit.
- ✳Train staff on how to handle a guest who scanned the wrong table.
Make the menu maintainable
Fast-changing dishes should not require a designer to replace a poster daily. Review category labels, dietary notes, prices and unavailable items on an actual mobile screen.
If a menu photo is converted to editable dishes by AI, a manager still needs to verify names, prices and availability. Automated extraction is a draft, not verified menu data.
Separate promotions from service
A guest agreeing to receive a bill is not the same thing as agreeing to WhatsApp promotions. KyaLoge's proposed guest preference controls treat email and WhatsApp as separate optional choices.
During a pilot, collect no unnecessary customer data, document who can access it and never send a promotional message without a verified consent and approved provider integration.
Try this in a mock service.
Hypothetical exercise; not evidence that KyaLoge has completed a live Mohali restaurant pilot.
Simulate a group moving from a small table into a joined seating area. Submit an item before the move and another after. See whether the waiter and counter agree on the final table visit, and whether one close action can prepare one final statement.
Four questions for your team
- 01Can two devices work with one visit without duplicating the final bill?
- 02Is the person editing prices also authorized to publish them?
- 03Can a waiter hand an open task to another zone?
- 04Are email and WhatsApp marketing choices separate and optional?
